Talk on the Transition from the Hinayana to the Mahayana

This is exciting. My first HD VIDEO POST.
I was asked to give a basic talk for wonderful small Buddhist group called Karma Thegsum Chöling in Erie, Pa.
The topic is the transition from the Hinayana (Lesser Vechicle) to the Mahayana (Greater Vechicle). Like trading your Dodge Omni in for a Lincoln Town-car or a Gran Torino - hehe.
Reference to the song Hotel California starts 10:30 into the 18 minute talk.

Oil Price in Real Time

No this is not a video. Just the price of oil in Real Time. Posting this simply as a resource. Time to get rid of your SUV and by a Hybrid. And time to insulate your house properly.

Tonight is the Winter Solstice. This inspired me to finish editing a project from the longest day of the year!

Video was shot on Midsummer’s day, June 2005.
Please enjoy this 5 minute film of the parade and celebration.
It is very colorful.

I’m trying something new by posting this on Google Video as opposed to my own website. The quality of the video suffers a bit but talk about convenient.
Video is here.

Shot a little video of a trip to PEI last weekend.
Come take a short journey with us. And yes I ran into Mr. Jordan over there!

Shot this video with my small Cannon Digital Elph camera. Color is good, and you can't beat the size of it but it is lacking too many features to replace a video camera.

Link to video is here. (2 and 1/2 minutes long).

So I'm finally caught up with last summers video projects from where I work part time. Next videoblog will be from last Christmas. I'm behind because, one, I'm lazy and two I'm doing everything on a laptop with limited hard drive space. Not great for editing. I got inspired to finish and post this one after reading Steve Smith's blog today. Read the March 25th post. Some really interesting stuff he writes about. (Steve is my brother).

Local food; it just makes sense!

Local food it just makes sense

This 26 minute film was great fun. It was a university class project that I volunteered my time for my friend Josee. Then I got really into it.

Did you know an average meal travels 1700 miles to get to you? Undoing the absurd. That is what is discussed here. Why do people not buy food from farmers markets or local produce stands, whatever. Why not support local farming?

When we run out of oil and there is a global economic collapse local farming is going to be in! Very in, as like the only choice to stay alive. Start thinking about it! Enjoy this short film.

Site got a major face lift.

By Mike Smith

Well thanks to the help of Bernardine Wood my site now looks sOoo much better .
But this means on a Saturday night I find myself drinking a beer or two (maybe we will get to three) and transfering files from the old site to the new. I'm going to keep things very simple this time.

Who cares about the site and what kind of beer and I'm drinking you ask?
Boddingtons Pub Ale. You know the kind with the shakey thing it that makes the can of beer pour like a draft, nice.

Bought some stuff

Ok, I should be able to finally post some more video soon.
Bought a 120 gig hard drive, an external enclosure, and an external dvd burner today.
I was waiting to find a good deal and it all came together today. What a relief.
